Bonumose to spend $27,700,000.00 to occupy 36,000 square feet of space in Charlottesville Virginia.
Charlottesville, Virginia — According to state and local economic development sources Bonumose plans to invest $27,700,000.00 to build out 36,000 square feet of new space in Charlottesville. The company plans to occupy the new space at 1550 State Farm Blvd in Charlottesville, on or about August 1, 2022. According to the company website Bonumose is an early-stage food ingredient manufacturer specializing in the affordable production of delicious, good-for-you sugars such as tagatose and allulose. Built on innovative, enzymatic technology discovered by Dr. Daniel Wichelecki, Bonumose developed a novel platform to produce naturally-occurring ingredients in commercial-scale quantities that would not otherwise be cost-effective or sustainable. Our mission is to offer healthy ingredients that can be used to meet consumers demands for delicious products that do not burden the waistband or the wallet. Good-for-you sugars are naturally-occurring just like glucose, fructose and sucrose, but are called rare sugars because they are much less abundant in nature. Despite this scarcity, rare sugars are packed with health benefits, promoting healthy teeth, glycemic control and improved gut health. They are just as versatile as more commonly-consumed sugars such as sucrose, sharing a similar taste and technical profile that facilitates their easy incorporation into a variety of food and beverage products.
