Portman to invest $480 Million for New Convention Center Hotel in Columbus Ohio.
Columbus, Ohio — According to state and local development sources, Portman plans to invest $480 Million to build out a new convention center hotel in Columbus. 3CDC and the developer, Portman Holdings, must do some construction activities on the $480 million project during the first quarter of 2025 because of a major $40 million tax credit they received from the state of Ohio earlier this year through its transformative mixed-use development program. The 635,000-square-foot structure will house 800 rooms, flexible meeting space and nearly 15,000 square feet of ground-floor leasable retail space. The company plans for the completion of the new space at 251 W. Fifth St in Columbus, on or about July 1, 2027.
