CleanJoule to spend $150 Million to expand in Salt Lake City Utah.
Salt Lake City, Utah — According to state and local development sources, CleanJoule plans to invest $150,000,000.00 to build out new space in Salt Lake City. The company plans to occupy the new space at 865 S 600 W On, 600 W in Salt Lake City, on or about December 1, 2025. According to the company website CleanJoules goal is to make aviation fully independent from the petroleum industry. Were focused on producing full performance, drop-in SAF. CleanJoule is commercializing its novel technology to transform abundant biomass residue into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Our process pathway taps a groundbreaking, highly efficient bioprocess and a highly selective chemical process that result in a SAF that is 10% more energy dense than average Jet A. While today’s qualified SAF pathways require 10-50% blends with Jet A to meet aviation standards, CleanJoule’s CycloSAF can fill the whole tank. Air traffic doubles every 15 years yet aerospace is constrained by a few key levers: pilots, aircraft, and propellant. The industry can’t continue to grow on fossil fuels alone. Production of jet fuel from oil will have to double from 100M to 200MM barrels per day. SAF is the only path to scale the requisite fuel volume required for ongoing growth while achieving IATA emissions targets. As SAF production grows, limitless feedstocks will be required. Production pathways that can efficiently transform more abundant and flexible feedstocks into SAF will emerge as the dominant SAF producers.
