BELIEVER Meats to spend $123,350,000.00 to occupy 200,000 square feet of space in Wilson North Carolina.
Wilson, North Carolina — According to state and local economic development sources BELIEVER Meats plans to invest $123,350,000.00 to build out 200,000 square feet of new space in Wilson. The company plans to occupy the new space in Wilson, on or about May 1, 2024. According to the company website BELIEVER Meats (formerly Future Meat Technologies) is a cultivated meat company pioneering the first scalable lab-grown meat production system that can feed the world. Founded in 2018 by Professor Yaakov Nahmias, PhD, BELIEVER’s mission is to ensure that future generations can enjoy the meat we know and love. BELIEVER is building a better future for people, animals and the planet with meat that is delicious, sustainable, nutritious, and broadly accessible. By 2050, the global demand for animal protein will double and reach its maximum capacity (according to United Nations research, link in comment). By then, if nothing changes, we will no longer be able to feed our population real meat. There will be no more land to graze and grow the food these animals need. Today, we teach animal cells to grow in stainless steel cultivators that enable us to produce meat efficiently and sustainably. We can grow an entire cow in just one month, without harming any animal. In comparison, it takes the meat industry 2 years to grow a cow before it is slaughtered for human consumption.
