Morgans Point, Texas — According to state and local development sources, City of Morgan’s Point plans to invest $852,000.00 to build out 2,300 square feet of new space in Morgans Point. The company plans to occupy the new space at 510 Bayridge Rd. in Morgans Point, on or about August 1, 2024. According to the company website Known as Morgans Point, the townsite was incorporated in 1949 and stands as a reminder of the early commercial history of Harris County. The peninsula on Galveston Bay known as Morgans Point was named for early landowner Colonel James Morgan. The first houses built were modest one-and two-story frame dwellings with verandas; most featured Eastlake and Queen Anne style detailing. Homes built in the early 20th century were designed by renowned architects and reflected various styles including Mediterranean revival, colonial revival, and prairie school. Among the many grand houses is one patterned after the White House built for Texas Governor Ross Sterling and his wife Maude. Listed on the National register of Historic Places, the area is one of Texas most significant seaside residential developments.
