Edinburg, Texas — According to state and local development sources, Freedom Bank plans to invest $2,195,000.00 to build out 4,000 square feet of new space in Edinburg. According to the company website On October 12, 1957 several forward-thinking residents of Duval County and Freer, Texas came together to form the First State Bank in Freer, Texas. Furthermore, on March 6, 1980 Brush Country Bank and Freer State Bank merged to become one combined bank flying under the name Brush Country Bank. On January 31, 2019, Brush Country bank officially changed its name to Freedom Bank with the purpose of incorporating the past and bringing it into the future.
