Edinburg, Texas — According to state and local development sources, Freedom Bank plans to invest $2,195,000.00 to build out 4,000 square feet of new space in Edinburg. The company plans to occupy the new space at 3930 North Expressway 281 Frontage Road in Edinburg, on or about March 1, 2024. According to the company website On October 12, 1957 several forward-thinking residents of Duval County and Freer, Texas came together to form the First State Bank in Freer, Texas. They had a vision to bring a banking institution to serve the needs of this community. Serve it they did and on January 23, 1974 First State Bank changed its name to Brush Country Bank. Furthermore, on March 6, 1980 Brush Country Bank and Freer State Bank merged to become one combined bank flying under the name Brush Country Bank. On January 31, 2019, Brush Country bank officially changed its name to Freedom Bank with the purpose of incorporating the past and bringing it into the future.
