FREYR Battery to spend $2.57 Billion to expand into new space in Newnan Georgia.
Newnan, Georgia — According to state and local economic development sources FREYR Battery plans to invest $2,570,000,000.00 to build out new space in Newnan. The company plans to occupy the new space at Bridgeport Industrial Park in Newnan, on or about July 1, 2025. According to the company website FREYR intends to install 50 GWh of battery cell capacity by 2025, 100 GWh annual capacity by 2028 and 200 GWh of annual capacity by 2030, and position the Company as one of Europes largest battery cell suppliers. The facilities will be located in the Mo i Rana industrial complex in Northern Norway, leveraging Norways highly skilled workforce and abundant, low-cost renewable energy sources from hydro and wind in a crisp, clear and energized environment. FREYR will supply safe, high energy density and cost competitive clean battery cells to the rapidly growing global markets for electric vehicles, energy storage, and marine applications. FREYR is committed to supporting cluster-based R&D initiatives and the development of an international ecosystem of scientific, commercial, and financial stakeholders to support the expansion of the battery value chain in our region.
