Hagerstown, Maryland — According to state and local development sources, Meritus Health/Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine plans to build out 133,092 square feet of new space in Hagerstown. The company plans to occupy the new space at 11120 Health Drive in Hagerstown, on or about July 1, 2024. According to the company website Meritus Health is officially moving forward with the accreditation and licensure process in order to open a four-year medical school in Hagerstown. The Proposed Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine supports a growing need. There is a growing shortage of physicians, and there are not enough new physicians being produced. Maryland is graduating fewer physicians, relative to population, than any other state.
