Tarboro, North Carolina — According to state and local development sources, Natron Energy plans to invest $1,400,000,000.00 to build out new space in Tarboro. The company is creating 1,062 new jobs at this facility. The company plans to occupy the new space in Tarboro, on or about October 1, 2026. According to the company website Natron designs and manufactures sodium-ion batteries based on a unique Prussian blue electrode chemistry that delivers superior performance, safety and sustainability compared to traditional alternatives. Our batteries provide backup and supplemental power and support decarbonization in data centers, oil and gas, aviation, solar and other industrial environments. Natrons sodium-ion batteries outperform lithium-ion and lead acid batteries in power density, recharging speed, and expected cycle life. Natrons sodium-ion batteries are inherently safe, non-hazardous and nonflammable, simplifying transportation and storage and eliminating flammability risks associated with other battery technologies. Natron offers the only sodium-ion battery to meet UL 1973 standards and Natrons complete UL 9540A test report is available to the public.
