Rapides Parish, Louisiana — According to state and local development sources, SunGas Renewables plans to invest $1,800,000,000.00 to build out new space in Rapides Parish. The company plans to occupy the new space in Rapides Parish, on or about March 1, 2027. According to the company website SunGas Renewables is focused on utilizing the suns energy from organic wastes and their byproducts including wood, food, animal and human wastes and converting it at the highest efficiency possible into renewable fuel, while simultaneously reducing the adverse effects of various waste streams on the environment. SunGas deploys proven commercial technologies to produce high quality syngas that can yield green hydrogen, RNG, methanol, liquid transportation fuels, or chemicals. Depending on the design of the facility and which technologies are deployed and feedstocks utilized, the renewable product can have a near-zero, zero, or below-zero carbon intensity (CI) to meet the needs of the purchaser.
