Penitas, Texas — According to state and local development sources, Texas National Bank plans to invest $2,500,000.00 to build out 2,751 square feet of new space in Penitas. The company plans to occupy the new space at 1913 US Highway 83 in Penitas, on or about October 1, 2025. According to the company website Known originally as First National Bank of Mercedes in 1920, the bank changed its name in 1985 to become Mercedes National Bank. Business continued under that name until early 2006. In May 2006, MNB Ventures, Inc. purchased Mercedes National Bank. It was this purchase that brought the name change to Texas National Bank.
