Lafayette, Louisiana — According to state and local development sources, Black Bayou Energy Hub plans to invest $1,600 Million to build out space in Lafayette. The company is creating 23 new jobs at this facility. The company plans to occupy the new space in Lafayette, on or about October 1, 2028.
According to the company website, Black Bayou Energy Hub is developing an underground salt dome storage project in Southwest Louisiana. Ideally situated between growing upstream supply and downstream demand centers, the facility will be located 7 miles east of the Louisiana / Texas border and less than 25 miles from Lake Charles, LA and Port Arthur, TX. The facility will be centrally located in the heart of LNG Alley, which includes 10+ LNG terminals and over 30 BCF/d of existing and proposed LNG liquefaction capacity. Black Bayou Energy Hub is perfectly situated to provide the essential balancing services needed to support the long term balancing needs of the growing gulf coast energy industry. Black Bayous proven salt, exclusive development rights, and proximity to existing and expanding natural gas, hydrogen, crude oil, NGL and olefin pipelines and infrastructure will allow the project to provide storage, balancing and wheeling services to a wide range of energy consumers and suppliers to help balance the ever-changing needs of a dynamic global energy market.
